Chapter 2

We rested in the woods and the baby dragon slept on my arm.
“What should we name her?” Kayla asked petting Akita.
“Hmm how about Saphira?” I suggested.
“Saphira’s a perfect name for her” Kayla said smiling.
“Come on I can see lights from the houses” I said waking up Saphira gently.
Saphira woke up and looked at me and did a cheerful grow.
“I guess she likes her new name” Kayla said.
We got to the small town but we covered Saphira so the villagers wouldn’t see her we heard some people yelling.
“WHO ARE YOU CALLING SHORTIE!?” someone yelled it was a voice I remembered very well.
“Brother?” I said.
“Brother you mean your brother Ed?” Kayla said.
We then saw someone go crashing into a barrel full of water.
“Yep that’s brother’s work” I said laughing a bit.
“Let’s find him before he get in more trouble” Kayla said holding Akita.
“Yea” I said.
We ran to where we heard the yelling and we found Ed fighting a group of men.
“Logan you might want to help him” Kayla said.
“Yea” I said as I jumped in the fight.
“Logan what are you doing here?” Ed said.
“Helping you what’s it look like you haven’t changed at all have you brother?” I asked.
“Shut up” Ed said.
The men started to strike but Saphira went in front of us growling.
“Man now I have to use this” Ed said.
Ed clapped his hands on the ground and it exploded creating a cloud covering us.
“Come on follow me” Ed said.
“Brother what did you just do?” I asked.
“Shut up and follow me” Ed said.
I grabbed Saphira and Kayla held Akita and we followed Ed to his home he closed the curtains and locked the door.
“Logan what happened why are you and Kayla here you should be back home?” Ed asked.
“Brother the village is gone it was attacked were the only survivors” I said.
“What?” Ed said surprised.
“It’s true and we found Akita and Saphira in a burning building” Kayla said.
“Hmm?” Ed said.
“What is it brother?” I asked.
“Saphira seems to be quiet fond of you Logan” Ed said.
“You noticed?” I asked.
“Yep” Ed said.
Saphira fell asleep on me and Kayla chuckled a bit I petted Saphira on the head but then we heard some hard knocking it woke up Saphira but I kept her quite we looked out the window to see some solder’s.
“Get out we know you’re in there” The men said.
“Damn they must be after Saphira” Ed said.
“What are we gonna do now?” Kayla said holding Akita.
“We either get out or fight” I said.
“I say fight” Ed said.
Then a part of the roof came down since it was stacked with straw and we saw a man.
“Come on this way” the man said.
“Well it’s not the prefect plan but I’ll take it” Kayla said.
I grabbed Saphira and we ran to the horse pen that Ed had we got on them and we left Ed’s house seeing the soldiers burning the house. And it started to rain a couple miles away we got away from the village and stopped in the hills.
“Damn them” Ed said.
“Why were they after us?” Kayla said sitting down.
“The King want’s you all dead” The man said sitting down.
“What why us?” Ed said.
“Why do you think you’re the only survivors of your village?” The man said.
“We don’t know” I said.
“Because since Logan got Saphira and Kayla has Akita and Edward has his Alchemy the king want’s you dead he doesn’t want you to find the resistance in the mountains it would give them a reason to fight the king” The man said.
“I still don’t understand but we have no chose but to believe it” I said petting Saphira.
“Alright fine…. Hey wait how do you know our names?” Ed said sitting down.
“I heard you say each other’s name” The man said.
“But what’s your’s?” Kayla asked the man.
“Brom” he said.
Brom looked at me petting Saphira.
“What is it?” I asked.
“Oh nothing” Brom said.
“So what do we do now?” Ed asked.
“We go to the resistance” Brom said.
“You mean we have to the mountains?” Kayla said.
“Yes and I should tell you how this war started and the legend to stop this war” Brom said.
“Okay go” I said.
“It happened many years ago the land was beautiful and there were no wars a time with Dragon’s and Dragon riders, and some people were master’s of the night called Ninja’s other’s like now are Wizard’s and Alchemists the four group’s were at peace until one Dragon Rider named Cronos betrayed the Dragon rider’s and started fighting his own former allies he killed them all after he killed every Dragon rider he started attacking the other colonies with his army and he killed anyone who opposed him every one died except those who lived started hiding some of the ninja’s hid in tree villages and as for those who opposed Cronos hid in the mountains for the legendary warriors who will bring back the time of the Dragon riders and bring peace to this land once again” Brom told us.
“Wow” We said.
I looked at Saphira who was sleeping on my lap.
“Well in that case I minus well teach Saphira how to fly” I said.
“Alright you go do that but don’t let any soldiers see you two” Brom said.
“I’ll join you Logan I want to help you” Kayla said.
“I’ll come too” Ed said.
“Okay come on Saphira” I said.
“I’ll stay here and make a fire we’ll camp out here” Brom said.
“Alright” Ed said.
We went to an open field and Ed and Kayla sat down and Akita rested on Kayla’s lap sleeping I started running with Saphira on my hands.
“Come on we got to teach you how to fly Saphira just flap your wings” I said running and Saphira was doing what she was told and she started to fly “There” I said.
Saphira started flying high above the clouds until she disappeared.
“She’s gone” I said sadly fearing she would never come back.
Ed and Kayla ran up to me.
“I’m sorry Logan” Kayla said resting an arm on my shoulder.
“Yea me too Logan” Ed said.
I then felt a small pain on my hand I saw it glow showing a figure but it disappeared I looked up to where Saphira flew and we heard thunder. Saphira was high above the clouds and then she started glowing red after each rumble of thunder Saphira grew until she grew to her full size then she started coming back to where Ed, Kayla and me were we didn’t know Saphira was coming until we heard a roar we looked up surprised and we saw Saphira grown up. Saphira landed in front of us she first looked at me then she looked at her wings.
“What’s happening?” I thought.
“Brom was right Logan the time of the Dragon riders has come again” Saphira said.
“You can hear my thoughts?” I said.
“What?” Ed and Kayla said.
“I have waited a thousand years to hear your thoughts now you can hear mine and you Logan are my rider” Saphira said.
“Rider” I said.
“Wow really Logan?” Kayla said.
We looked at Saphira and we saw her nod.
“Wow we got to tell Brom he’s gonna freak” Ed said.
“But remember we can’t have Saphira fly because of the soldiers” I said.
“Alright come on” Ed said.
“Will be aright without flying Saphira?” I said to her.
“Yes I will don’t worry about me” Saphira said.
We got to Brom who was wondering what was wrong.
“What is it?” He asked.
“You might want to take a look at Saphira” Ed said.
Brom then noticed Saphira he walked over to her and examined her.
“Hmm this only happens when the Dragon found it’s rider and it seem’s Saphira found hers” Brom said.
“Yea that’s me” I said.
“You’re her rider?” Brom said.
“Yes I am” I said.
“Hmm then we must find a somewhere to camp” Brom said.
“Where?” Kayla asked.
“Deep in the forest but first we need supplies” Brom said.
“It’s already getting dark we’ll never find a place we should just rest here for the night” Ed said.
“Alright” Brom said.
We then heard something.
“Saphira do you know what’s out there?” I said to her.
“Were surrounded” Saphira said.
We then saw a group of people dressed in black their faces were covered in masks.
“Don’t do anything stupid” the leader said.
“Alright we give up” We said
“Tie them up but be careful of the dragon” the leader said.
“Saphira don’t do anything” I said.
“Alright” Saphira said.
They were about to tie us up until one of there own started fighting them.
“Go!” the girl said.
“On Saphira’s back” I said.
Saphira leaned down for us to get on she started flying once we all were on but our savior was still fighting them.
“Go back we have to save her” Ed said.
“Got it” I said.
“Alright hang on” Saphira said to me.
Saphira went back down and grabbed the young girl who saved us and we flew away to a forest that’s perfect to camp Saphira landed and we got off her back and Saphira put the girl on the ground gently Ed ran to her and he rested her head on his lap he took off her mask and saw a beautiful girl with black hair he has never seen a girl like her before.
“Brother let her rest” I said.
“Sure” Ed said stroking the girl’s hair.
Brom started a fire since it was getting dark.
“Rest up we have a lot of traveling to do to reach the resistance” Brom said.
“Right” I said as I laid against Saphira who was asleep and I fell asleep Kayla rested next to me and Ed kept the young girl with him Brom fell asleep against a rock. We rested there with our new friend.
